Директор God of War Кори Барлог (Cory Barlog) прокомментировал PlayStation 4 Pro, а также будущее консоли. По его словам, апгрейды устройства в рамках одного поколения очень удобны разработчикам, так как нет необходимости заново учиться работать с железом.
«Я думаю, что обновление [консолей] — это всегда хорошо. Мне понравился переход от PlayStation 4 к PlayStation 4 Pro в том смысле, что [в случае] с PlayStation 3 и PlayStation 4 нам приходилось всё выбросить, понимаете? — объяснил Кори. — Нам пришлось всё переделывать. Как разработчику, мне не нравятся эти ситуации. […] Но, если мы можем продолжать расти постепенно, я думаю, что это позволит нам [достичь большего], не перестраивая мозг в попытке снова всё понять».
По этой причине Кори Барлог всегда будет приветствовать новое устройство в рамках текущего поколения. Чем лучше разработчик знаком с оборудованием, тем плавнее процесс создания игры.
«Так что я всегда буду рад апгрейду устройства, но, как разработчик, [я не буду постоянно просить больше]. Я думаю, что чем дольше мы знакомы, тем лучше. Поэтому я бы продолжал [обновлять консоль и наращивать её мощность], а не выбрасывать всё и перепрограммировать для следующего поколения, если бы мог. До тех пор, пока мы расширяемся вот так, всё будет прекрасно», — закончил он.
То, что хочет Кори Барлог, по сути, предлагает Microsoft. Компания заявляла, что отказалась от консольных поколений и будет продолжать обновлять Xbox One с поддержкой старых моделей новыми играми. Что же касается God of War, то она вышла только на PlayStation 4 — в конце апреля.
